LASER TREATMENT FOR ACNE

  • Acne occurs when the sebaceous glands* produce too much sebum. The excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells and both substances form a plug in the follicle. If the plugged follicle is close to the surface of the skin, it bulges outwards, creating a whitehead. Alternatively, the plugged follicle can be open to the skin, creating a blackhead. Sebaceous glands are tiny glands found near the surface of your skin which are attached to hair follicles, sebaceous glands produce an oily substance called sebum.

  • Laser treatment for acne can effectively treat the condition and even reduce active acne and boils with immediate results and also resolve acne scarring.

Although this is often a problem for teenagers it is a problem by no means limited to this age group and many people will experience acne in their later years. Hormones can also play an active role in the exacerbation so acne.

  • Fotona’s laser treatment reduces acne inflammation through photoselective absorption and controlled heating effects. Fotona’s high powered Nd:YAG laser safely penetrates the skin to an optimal treatment depth to thermally and selectively destroy overactive sebaceous glands.
