SCARRING TREATMENT

  • Laser treatment can significantly improve the appearance of both new and old scars. The scars that can be treated may have resulted from many different causes for example – post surgery, accidental injury as well as burns. Patients with scarring have often been advised they are stuck with them and there is nothing that can improve their outlook, however bespoke laser treatment can make a significant difference.

  • A multilayered approach is used to treating scar tissue dependent on the type of scar, its appearance and your skin type. With ablative and thermal effects, Fotona laser can improve scars by ablating to reduce the thickness of scars and smoothing the edges of scars; as well as stimulating collagen production and re-modeling collagen to improve the volume of scars.

  • Fotona’s Er:YAG laser wavelength is ideal for gentle ablative scar revision. The Er:YAG laser safely and effectively provides the minimal penetration depth required for light resurfacing of acne-scarred skin, helping to improve skin texture and tone. Unlike chemical peels and dermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing allows the penetration depth to be precisely controlled. The laser gently vaporizes micron-thin layers of the acne-scarred surface to reveal healthy, undamaged skin below. Laser resurfacing is a fast, safe and simple procedure.
